In an event to get the public up to date on the happening at Google Search, the company held a little gathering this morning to tell people about enhancements coming to the #1 search engine in the world. Google held a similar event last year when they talked about “instant search” for the first time. The details for the event were not known by many until this morning when Google promised reporters they would get a ”an under-the-hood look at Google Search, share our vision, and demo some of our newest technology and features.”

One of the first things that Google talked about was mobile search and because of the huge overall growth of the product, Google wanted to make some changes to make it better. One thing they added was new icons giving users an easier time finding local businesses, like gas stations. Users that find the local business they want can stroll, click and read about the business and even get a phone number to call. Adding a “plus” sign will help a user with search queries as well. If a user types in a term and wants to add to it, they hit the “plus” icon and the instant search gives results with the search term in them.
The Web search also got a couple of changes. The main thing was that Google wanted to bring some mobile search features to the Web search. Voice search will be the biggest change and soon you will see a microphone icon you can click, then speak your search queries into a microphone. This feature is already on the mobile version. You can read more about the enhancements at the Google website.
