A new startup in the tech industry says that the days of paying for anything with cash might be long gone. The CEO of Square, a company that was started with the help of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, says that it has an application for iPhone, iPad or any Android supported device, which allows users to accept credit cards via those devices. The small piece of hardware, which is mailed to users for free, connects to the device and connects to the software application, which is free at the Apple App Store, then allows a business or user to pay with credit cards and track a bunch of related data.

The card readers accept all major credit cards and of the 500,000 readers delivered, the number of total transactions with the reader hit 1 million in May alone. In addition to the Square hardware and free app, they also have Card Case, which allows users to check out local businesses, view a menu or track all your receipts and make instant purchases all from the familiarity of your smartphone or wireless device. The Square Register is another app that Square hopes that will help reinvent the buyer-seller relationship with an easy to use app available for free.
The Tabs feature on the app will allow users to make an instant purchase much like websites that implement the “one-click” purchase. Once a tab is set, the seller can verify information on the buyer and the purchase is made much faster. Card Case is a feature that can be activated via text message after buying something at an authorized merchant. Merchants that participate, about 50 in major cities, will see a better relationship with buyers.
